Trial Run For New Bashing Rod & Reel Set..

Having broken several Daiwa rod tips, I decided to invest less on branded rods unless recommended.. In the end, decided to purchase Chop Hock Heng's housebrand, a 5'6ft, 4-8 lb Pro Tech Magic Spin Light rod, which impressed me seeing how they work on Nigel's blog.. Aptly paired with a budget Daiwa Sweepfire 1000 to replace my trusty rusty reel, I'm ready for some no holds bashing and ultra light fishing.. No more  heart pains liao.. Kekeke!

 

Nite falls and after work I decided to test the set up at a water hole near my workplace.. Casting ultra light jigs with the rod seems fine although the set up looks quite bulky.. The springy rod tip clearly aided the distance casted.. The reel works fine too but I loaded it with 8lb which might be too much for it and wind knots happened twice.. Quickly remedy the knot and worked the jigs.. In the end of my 1 hour session, I couldn't complain about the set at all.. Caught several bait sized Tilapias which hardly worked the rod although I felt the sensitive tip really help me secure the hook sets.. 

Gonna try it out on my fave Peacock Bass and hopefully at other members of the snakehead family in order to secure a full review.. I guess going budget doesn't seems too bad after all.. At least now I dared to whack the rod and dump my reel.. LOL

Kranji Green Water Mystery..

Long time no go to Kranji Reservoir to wet my lines.. Interesting, the waters are still the same like green paint and thick hairlike weeds flourishes making it seems devoid of life.. Could see a baiter with float at the canal end and a couple fishos picnicing.. Quickly set up my rod and to my horror, my Daiwa telescopic rod broke its tip.. WTF!! SUPER SUAY!! In the end, used hard lures to pull the line out cos light lures can't cast..

Got 2 takes with my Yozuri Crystal Vibe but couldn't set hook in.. Haiz, the troublesome weeds almost covered my trebles.. Damn, everything seems to go wrong.. In the end, gave up and enjoy the breeze loh.. Sadly, a pair of fishos manage to fish up a small Peacock but left it to die.. Haiz, flies settled in quickly loh.. WTF!

Itchy hands, itchy backside.. KILL THE ITCH!!

Recently rained alot which really hamper my mood to go fishing.. Dying to kill the itch loh.. Luckily Android market got My Country game which let me gamed up abit.. Really look like one of my fave classics, SimCity.. Anyway checked Acuweather which seems like good sunny days are coming, so I went to my usual haunt in search of my fave species!!

A week has gone by and it seems the Peacock Bass has settled down or moved away.. Can't really spot their usual water characteristic.. Somemore slap my lures loh.. LOL.. Anyway went on recce fishing and found just what I wanted.. Casting at the lovely dovey pair and they immediate sprang to action.. FISH ON!! Fight was expectantly energetic, my drag was set loose so can I play with it a while before landing..

Caught this beauty at 30cm and 1lb.. Was thinking of catching the other one but the sun is baking so quickly snap photos and release it.. Without saying goodbye the pair went off and I went ahead to look for some more fishes.. Kill the itch abit but backside still itchy and lost several lures loh.. Dunno what to say, really damn stupid mistakes and my old rusty reel kept giving me headaches.. Haiz..

So I ate a Panadol Actifast and search some more.. Itchy legs finally found a group of hunting Peacock Basses! ^^ I chucked my lure further away and zoom my lure in and saw them rushing.. LOL HOOK SET!! The leader of the pack ate it!! Nice fight this time, took some time to maneuver to good landing spot and measured the 33cm, which roughly weigh 3/4 kg.. Yay!!

Very feisty fellow just won't keep still to let me take photo loh.. Released it and off it goes with its group.. Casting at the group later proved no hookup.. Think I spooked them.. T_T Saw Bros Dan and Banhock, seems like they chasing the Toman.. Heard some great news.. Anyway, Bro Dan also caught one of the pair, hehe dunno is it the same itchy mouth.. LOL

And finally, after the tapaoers had caught up the fish supply not happy.. Netters now join the fun.. Even Eartheater they bring home eat.. WTF!! Pity the poor fishes, swim so slow.. LOL Anyway saw a big group of young fishos at the far end.. I sincerely wish u all catch nothing.. Cause I know you bring home eat loh.. And to Bro Eugene, best luck on your luring success.. U semi bait luring ok liao, just buy more lures testing should do fine!! And off I go to buy some equips!! Cya Fishos!!

Lovely morning today ya.. Anyway caught this cute 29cm Peacock Bass using a virgin lure.. Yozuri Floating Minnow.. Not shy de leh.. My Queen Followed a few times thinking and thinking and finally whacked my Banana.. LOL Shiok!!

Peacock Bass Day!! With Extra Bonus!!

Got up early this morning.. Thinking of cracking the Toman code but its not that day today.. Tried to fish at my usual spot but the water was very weedy, making my usual minnow lures grinding to a halt.. Switched to other options loh.. Anyway, only saw some baiters and a few fishos at the goalmouth.. Actually, I don't have problems with tapaoers.. but please lah, dun catch all and bring home.. You can take 1 back and savor it but release the rest mah.. Nothing special to boast about catching a kind of fish which so eager take lures.. If you take all like one kaki told me, take 8 back.. It's like robbing loh.. Haha.. Anyway, got 8 takes, 5 landed.. Which include one very cute young Zebra Tilapia..

Looks like my Beauty Queens are a lively bunch, ranging from 25 to 30cm, weighing 1/2lb to 1 lb.. I always like their ferocious takes.. Especially when they are in a feeding frenzy.. Got all of them within an hour of my 3 hrs session.. All are CNR except for 2 which were caught by a group of couples who were baiting and thought this is seawater.. LOL Next time try Woodlands Waterfront lah.. There got more nice tasting fishes..

My Very First!! Zebra Cichlid!! Sorry about the scary cigarette box..

Final catch is a funny one hur hur.. I tried to google it and it really looks like a cross between Mayan Cichlid and Zebra Cichlid.. In the end, should be Zebra cos the tail got no eye loh.. LOL Very cute catch! I like the colors.. Very charming.. Fish is CNR too!! Hopefully can grow big big to 2kg hor.. Okies fishos.. Cya next time =)

PS:  In the end should be Mayan Cichlid cos the sizes doesn't match up with Chromide and Zebra.. ^0^

Lousy Catches..

Been trying to hunt Toman and Haruan but unsuccessful leh.. Even Peacock Bass not giving me face loh.. Went last Friday, missed a few and only managed to land one smallie 30cm.. Soon might land in someone stomach.. Because tapaoers have come loh, these CNK baiters bring home anything they catch loh..

WTF!! PB SO GOOD EAT MEH!! NO MONEY BUY FISH SO DESPERATE MEH.. FREE ONE MUST TAKE ALL ISIT!? ZZZzzz.. I WISH U EAT LIAO LAO SAI 3 DAYS 3 NITES!!

Deja Vu!! We met yet again!! =)

Been itching to catch some fishys.. But missus down with fever so never go for my fishing trip loh.. Need take care of her.. Anyway, wakey up extra early this morning and went down to my fish hole.. Water was very calm.. Got many wakes so I tried popping for Tomans.. Keke.. No takes.. Haiz.. Can see some fishos at the goal mouth, maybe there better ya.. Tried casting further away where the sun can shine and.. HOOK SET!! FISH ON!! Whacked a few times to make sure dun lose fish and landed this cute 27cm smallie.. Itch cured.. =)

Wanted to catch another Peacock but instead, Plan B started early loh.. Kekeke.. Tried a few experimental lures but doesn't seem to entice the Haruan too much.. Kept following and following, cast and cast then.. HOOK SET!! FISH ON!! Same here, whacked a few times to make sure hook set nicely.. Nice tug and pull.. But this time it never dived under so I landed it quickly.. Wah my single hook bent loh.. Taking a closer look.. Eh, how come look like the same one caught recenly.. So I compared the bars and YES!! SAME FISH!! LOL

  

This time quite tame loh, never struggled alot like last time.. Quickly took some photos and measurements.. Hmm.. Lost weight now only 1kg.. LOL Fish released for next meeting!! Wanted to catch some more but then my reel went beehoon and lost quite alot of  lines.. Early work today!! =)

OMFG!! MASTER SHIFU MAX BOGA 15LB TOMAN BOMB!!!

Hey Fishos, just got news bro Gilbert landed this HUGE Giant Snakehead AKA Toman in Singapore.. Its a SILVERY PURPLE TORPEDO at 85cm long and weighing above 8kg MAXED BOGA CANNOT CFM WEIGHT!!!.. Spread the love fishos, if I catch this, I SURELY HUG IT FOR A PHOTOSHOT!! =P

6 Takes!! 3 Landed!! 5 Friendly Fishos!! Shiok!!

Went down to my  fave haunt this cloudy yet bright day.. Water was surprising calm, could see a mama Watermelon swimming happily and, to my horror, already one baiter using catfish near my spot.. =\ Nonetheless I chucked my lure in, thinking of disturbing his catfish loh.. Kekeke.. Then HOOK SET!! FISH ON?? Eh, no fight at all.. I really caught that catfish meh.. To my amusement, a juvenile Toman was foul hooked.. LOL Quickly took a snapshot and release it..

Sensing my Queens were somewhere else, I trolled the waters and met a long time fisho of the area, bro Dan.. We had a nice chat as we lured and before long.. HOOK SET!! FISH ON?? Got a nice tug as the fish steered to the right and WTF!! Could see I foul hooked somewhere around the fin.. Quickly brought to bank.. A nice light 27cm.. Eh, why so many speckles? Temensis? LOL Quickly take a snapshot and release it.. WTF!! Twice kena foul hooked!! The 'gods' must be playing with me loh.. Kekeke Sensing my Queens still there, I chuck my lure again and HOOK SET!! FISH ON!! This time should be good, can sense the peacock bass fighting near the surface of the water.. Then.. Eh, hook came off.. WTF!! Bro Dan also say should be bigger then just now the one.. T_T



Look see look see got one fisho topwater at the far end, wah so hot still topwater.. I tried some recce luring and.. HOOK SET!! FISH ON!! Wah got nice tug can feel the fish moving fast I pulled it jumped and hook fly back.. ZZZzzz LOST AGAIN.. Damn sad.. Changed my lure to bigger hook.. Then.. HOOK SET!! FISH ON!! Wah, nice tug quickly set my drag high and pulled a plump Queen! Aiyo, for its 30cm size still weigh half kilo.. Must have eaten alot.. Greedy pig.. Kekeke

Then the  'gods' must be telling me dun yaya papaya lah and 'they' gave me a stomache, so I go for early lunch.. Anyway spotted some strange tiliapias at the next area.. I tried a small jig, was pretty amused it somewhat chased it but never really bite.. LOL Saw Bro Dan, he landed one peacock bass too.. Nice one! Forgot to ask him let me see, later go his blog gian abit..

Met 2 young friendly fishos, bros Brendan and Jeff and an enthusiatic baiter turn lurer Shihong, who caught a nice peacock bass and slipped another.. Donated one lure to shihong all donated setup.. Kekeke Saw Banhock bro too in his usual gear.. Then last cast.. HOOK SET!! FISH ON!!.. Dunno kena what cos halfway hook came off.. Very tired liao.. Looks like need more hooking practise.. LOL Next time you all go fishing dun forget to jio me loh.. Cya fishos!!!

PS: Is that spotted Peacock Bass a Temensis half bred? I really dun know! LOL

Toman wannabe.. =]

Thought of catching a National Day fish but busy yesterday so I try my luck today instead.. And what a bright and hot day it was.. Hmm.. Seems like some little Tomans and giant gouramis were swimming together.. WTF! So i crossed my fingers and tried a few new rigs, including a BH rig imitator for haruans.. LOL Hmm.. Not biting at all.. So proceed Plan B loh.. Kekeke

Saw a few rises here and there after trolling in the area a while.. Some spooked splashes were good indicators of some bloody chao tortoises.. LOL Finally spotted a King idling around.. Damn bloody clever.. Siam almost 90% of the lures I threw at it.. Finally tried a trick shot retrieve and HOOK SET!! FISH ON!! Good thrashing under the surface, can see mud spewing around but my light Daiwa telescopic rod hit a snag as the fish dun wan to come up.. Zzzz I tug tug tug, he hug hug hug.. Like 30secs later, woohoo, fish came out for a breathe then quickly pull it out.. Nice.. Wah really like Toman turn colors liao.. Got bars loh..

Finally my persistence was rewarded.. Really took some time into my 3hrs session getting this kilo plus half meter long Haruan to bite.. Promptly took my victory photo and released it back to the water.. Then it started thrashing again making me wet! LOL Yay!!

Sentosa Luge! "Once Is Never Enough!"

Had a great time today racing go karts downhill at Sentosa.. It's been a while since I brought missus here to play.. This time tried out both trails, since the last time we played, the Dragon Trail haven't completed lah.. Missus prefer the new trail while I preferred the faster old trial loh.. Sorry dear, I bring you out here more loh.. Kekeke..

Dunno why suddenly got acrophobia, dun dare to look down while on the Skyrides.. Kept teased by missus loh.. WTF See her evil grinning face.. LOL in the end took several photos of the nice view while in the air.. Wah.. View really nice.. You guys should try sometimes..

Earlier, we saw this 20-30cm bold needlefish swimming close to the bridge connecting to the Megazip landing island, seems like its focused on some floating weeds.. Upon closer inspection, saw numerous fries or tiny creatures swimming around it.. Hmm.. WHERE'S MY FISHING ROD!!! LOL

Got an unexpected off day today.. Was pondering in the morning whether to visit my fish hole though, in the end overslept.. LOL Since got the confirmation, I packed my Daiwa telescopic rod and my rusty cheapo reel bought at Team 7 and headed down.. Was pretty lonely this day, only saw an army shirt guy fishing near the tracks and came along an ah lau with bag full of gold fishes.. -_-"

Tomans were not visible though so I tried to look for Haruans but this water was quite 'high' making it harder to find their hiding spots.. Then came the rain.. Pissed off by the 2 bouts which got me in foul mood.. LOL Later the 'gods' must have heard my cries and peace on the water surface came and I'm ready to catch some fishes.. Suspecting my fave Beauty Queens are there i casted my lure out and... HOOK SET!!! FISH ON!!! Quickly brought to bank and measured the 33cm, quite robust build but weighed less than a kg.. LOL

Was about to release it then an uncle help me take a memorable shot cos it's been a long while since I last caught my Peacock Bass here.. SOB!!! It turn out that the uncle was also an avid fisho, trolling down to this water hole after work.. LOL Continue fishing this time using fly since the Uncle also uses it I worked it nicely and.. HOOK SET!!! FISH ON!!! This bugger really sent my reel running.. Finally subdued the 40cm which roughly weighed 1kg.. Wah.. Long time no 'Double KO'.. LOL

Promptly took my victory photo and releases them back.. Hope they will breed good and well.. Later, tried to catch Haruan but it's pretty hard leh.. LOL Saw Banhock bro too, seems like he missed a goalkeeper Toman! Dun worry bro, you will get them like you always do.. Remember fishos, please practise CNR and keep our sport fishing alive!!!

Exodus of Toman

Seems like my fave haunt keep changing its ecology. What's seems to be an infestation of Toman has been a past. Now more friendly creatures arrived and take charge.. LOL

Caught this hungry fella chasing my spinner.. But too big for it's mouth and I asked a recce baiter Fisho with small dead frog to catch it! FIshy then release back! LOL

Plan B

Went over my usual haunt this nice morning, and was surprised the water level had dipped down and quite a chunk of water weeds were cleared.. Saw several Tomans swimming happily but did not manage to hook one up. Seems like the fishes were not biting this week.. Proceed Plan B and aptly caught up a nice Haruan around 3lb and measured 50cm which cured my fishing itch.. LOL!!!

Thanks for the nice fisho for taking my pic! Hope to see your catch report soon! Cheers! Fish is released safely back for next meeting.. :)

Weird Weather Singapore

Sometimes the weirdest scene can be found on our island home. One time at Jurong lake a spiral of whirlwind shaped like a line with hook gently moves on the surface..

And purple clouds shaped like a baby brought heavy rain..

Damn nature! You scary!
