S, M, L Peacock Bass Sizes ^^

What a sunny day indeed! Rainy days these few days have dampen my mood for fishing but it's good that it cleared out for today. Reached spot near to midday and water is calm and low. Just the way I like it. Quickly put on my gear and set forth for some itch curing! LOL Too bad my daiso sunblock hat broke its strap earlier  so I dun have a headgear with me and with this sun, I think I gonna get sunburn! After a short walk I got my first Peacock Bass. Cute fella hiding and I manage to flush it out with my fly! Couldn't keep still for a photoshot too! Itchy mouth hurt its lips too!!!

Mood went up and I quickly moved on in search of more prey! Saw a huge haruan..!!! The likes which Banhock bro told me before. 2kgs ones lololol!!! Spent quite some time entertaining the old fishy.. Tried frog, no take. Tried spinner, no take.. Tried minnow, no take... Hmm, gave up liao... Maybe kena caught before... Interestingly some many many Eartheaters and Green Chromides. All same time breed liao.. Anyway saw Banhock bro too. Following him I caught one of a pair of nice size peebees!!! First cast using my trusty Yozuri and bang! It literally banged into my lure and a nice fight ensue... Hohoho! Shiok! Caught the kg plus fighter liao immediately tried to aim its partner but very spooked dun wan kiss the lure no more... Haiz!

 

Finally I landed my last peebee near the fountain area. LOL Played my fly and a smallie gulped it. Very fiesty jump jump here and there. Quickly took a suck thumb shot and tossed it back. Hmm.. After that did some Toman hunting but no takes! LOL Yup still a Toman noob here! Hopefully can upgrade my lure to some power one to entice them! Itch never cured instead more itchy. Gonna come back and catch some more! Cya Fishos!!!

Last but not least...

Back from Influenza... Minus the smell...

Didn't manage to get into fishing gear lately after having a bout of influenza which took a very long for me to recover fully... Still battling the virus but felt better than before. It also took my sense of smell away... Oh well. Anyway, decided to go destress in my usual haunt. Tagging along with me, my SS class wife finally broke our duck of catching fish together. Dunno why but everytime go fishing with her always landed zeros... LOL

Manage to land a small Peebee for wifey to take photos with.. Disturb nest got both chromides but one escaped after a short landing.. Oh well. Water very low. Almost can grab the Tomans there.. If I got more time, I could catch some more. GONNA WATCH SPIDERMAN 3D... YIPPEE YAP YAP.. Think it's gonna be a long time for me to relink my fishing interest cos my new PS VITA took alot of my spare time... Oh well...

Fishy days are getting lesser also due to work... Must really recover faster liao to make more early trips loh... Cya Fishos...

Finally We Met!! My Beauty Queen!! ^^

I've been itching to land some nice catches from my spot lately. But still don't have the luck to land anything great. So I decided to take it easy and try to relax in today's fishing. The weather's very good! Not too hot and spotty sunny is my kind of outing... But the waters look so cloudy it dampen my mood abit but hey, I'm here to destress... So there... ^^

Found a few Tomans but they're not willing to kiss my lures. LOL So, I decided to camp around a nice spot to just relax... Played a while with some nesting Mayan Cichlids and haha, found them so so cute. Not much fishos around. And nonchalantly played around with some lures and flies, not expecting to catch anything, just want to test their action. And BOOM! I got a hard take and I quickly strike and tug hard! My drag quite loose and the fishy manage to pull some lines quickly. I tightened my drag and reel in firmly but it swam hard around digging into the weeds and I had a nice time steering home the prize! I really loved their energetic swims! Luckily it surrendered!

Nice kilo plus fighter! Long time since I've enjoyed it! It's always a nice feeling knowing they're still hiding around. Hopefully fishos can get to had a feel of it and pray tell they release back okay! Let them roost and we'll have a hell of a time too! ^^ And I lost my lure on a second take. It seems the first fight had brazed the leader, and I felt the take was huge too. What a waste! Finally, my second and last catch was a nice surprise! Temensis spots again, although it lacked in size, it's will to fight is great! Hopefully you will grow up big and jio all ur temmy frens here okay!

All catches were released back as usual! Had a fun time under the sun! Tomans, I will be back and devise need methods to catch you! Stay put and look out for fishos who cook you okay! LOL Cya fishos ^^

Destress After 2 Weeks..

Didn't get into fishing mood these 2 weeks cos mainly it's rainy and by now you guys know I don't like rain very much. LOL And also too tired cos working without break for 2 weeks too had an effect. So on a surprising off day, I went down to my usual haunt. Congrats to the blue boy boy who manage to land a pair of HUGE TOMANS! Superbly landed one while I just reached the spot too! He also landed, I think the best Giant Snakehead there, A Meter LONG TORPEDO, too bad I didn't see the action only a pic for me to gian and he released them all! Kudos you have done us NSLK fishos proud. ^^

With this upbeat news I also tried my luck. Although I didn't land any Toman I got a few pointers in hopefully can polish my skill for next time. In the end, got caught some other creature. Dun ask me how I landed cos it's really luck! Freshwater eel, I dun noe how they manage to come here but I guess it's quite a rare catch? Gave it to old china uncle cos I heard the meat is quite nice.. I wan tabao home but it's too early to go home and this 60cm long fatty is quite slimy so there... ^^

 P.S. Sichuan style fried eel... Looks damn tasty. Regret I gave it away! ^^

Shane First Fish! Meow Fish ^^

As you can see.. He is over the moon with his first fish, the freshwater catfish! Beginner luck in full effect as he landed this nice size in his first ever fishing outing, some more during a stormy night at Bottletree pond! Got 2 choo choo trains to enjoy too! LOL His pic dun do justice so I posted his video instead. Nice kg plus too bad cannot bring home eat hor?

Me got not much to post. Cos rainy and cloudy days always ruin my mood to go catch Peebees. Went down once and caught Peebee smallies with flies. Only interesting catch is this fierce Mayan Cichlid guarding her nest. Didn't manage a double hookup! So sad... LOL

Doubles The Joy

Seems like the Tomans have went for a vacation. Or getting stomached by some hungry Fishos. Anyway very weedy here there everywhere so tried in vain with minnows, fished more weeds than fish. No wonder Banhock lure works. Not much action today. But at the very least, still got Peebees to Play with. Caught smallies with fly, action here very imPortant since they are almost targeted constantly. Met an uncle Fisho with float and flies. Heck, no action also can land a nice size Peebee. So envious. Ask him he wanna bring home eat anot. Guess what? HE RELEASED BACK!!! SHOCKING!!!

In the end, have to hurry uP cos time ticking by and caught a nice size Peebee which tried to rough it out but then tangled some stray lines and it escaPed. Stray lines as in lines discarded or even worse, tied to some funny mesh cage or something. I wonder which bugger set it out. ZZZzzz. Lucky got a Pair of lovey dovey Peebees enjoying their swim and I decided to disturb them. Both went uP for their couPle shot together and kudos to my neglected Yozuri lure. Neglected lure but always a Peebee killer. Cya fishos next week! =P

Stress Relief

Didn't notice it's Friday the 13th today. Been raining almost everyday this past 2 weeks and today it's unusually sunny. So long sunny Singapore. Last time I fished is around 2 weeks back. Still quite sored one CNK taopaoed one nice melon and we were all stumped. One word. Pissed. And one newbie fisho uncle like, "Wah! So big! Hero! Hero!" I puked.

Anyway, in need of stress relief so I went back to my fishing ground today. Day off too. Spot very weedy. Very boring. Got one take. Never set hook. Long black body. Sad. Found pair of Green Chromides. Decided catch both. Done. Stress relieved? All released!!!

Noob Catch! T_T

WOW!!! Been over a month since I last blogged! Sad to say but I'm currently on a lean spell after visiting my spot a few times.. Been drooling at my kakis catches but sorry fishos, my skill not up to par catching the Tomans.. T_T But it's a nice month of March for me! Went over Bangkok for a week long holiday 2 weeks ago with my wife to watch L'arc~en~ciel concert at the Impact Arena stadium! Boy! It's really crazy fun cos we're sitting near the stage and Hyde make funny face at me!!! LOL And they are coming to Singapore next month! So, what are u waiting for!?!?!?

Anyway, went for a short session this morning.. Hopefully pray dun rain loh.. Why the month of March in Singapore always rain and rain and rain.. In Thailand it's baking sunny days every day! LOL Anyway, caught a peebee today using my fave lure. Finally they whacked lures but I still blur blur like dunno how to fish and it popped into weeds.. Anyway found some targets for my next trip..See ya Fishos!!! ^^

Snakehead Murrel, Channa Striata AKA Haruan

"The snakehead murrel, Channa striata, is a species of snakehead fish. It is also known as the common snakehead, chevron snakehead, and striped snakehead. It is native to South and Southeast Asia. It grows up to 1 m in length, though because of fishing, this size is rarely found in the wild.

Adults are dark brown in colour with faint black bands visible across its entire body. Males and females both help to construct a nest out of water vegetation during breeding time. Eggs are guarded by both parents. Fry are reddish orange and are guarded by both parents until they turn greenish brown at around 5–6 cm.

It is common in freshwater plains, where it migrates from rivers and lakes into flooded fields, returning to the permanent water bodies in the dry season, where it survives by burrowing in the mud. This post is dedicated to our beloved Haruan, whom gave us happy fishing times but secretly, we thought of your big ass cousin, the Giant Snakeheads.. ;P WAH PIANG EH.. Thought of resting today but got an unexpected off day so went fishing again and again and again.. Reached spot already afternoon, sun glaring but water calm.. Hit first pot at PeeBee... Wah, this one mouth very loose fly cannot set hook easily. Change lure and HOOK SET!!! FISH ON!!! Nice fight on 4lb setup. Mood went up 30%..

30cm over handsome shiny PeeBee landed! Quickly snapped photos and release back. Next, found another pot but decidedly very spooky but think Banhock bro haven't ka ciao today so HOOK SET!!! FISH ON!!! DIY RIG DID IT! LOL Nice fight on my blue rod but not as powerful as Banhock's.. Mood add 60%+30%=90%!

First time use STORM tape so abit off, 37+7=44 cm Mama Haruan! ^^

Fishy gave me a nice splashing upon releasing.. Handphone wet wet.. ZZZzzz.. Finally my last 10% mood up goes to this last pot, the Mayan Cichlid, who kept staring at me the whole goddamn time.. Okay 100% mood up feeling great but weather not so great. RAIN CAME and so that's the end of this catch report. Body and mind now exhausted.. Not going fishing so soon I guess~~~ Cya Fishos~~~

Suck Thumb Post

Haiz.. Seem like the sizes of my PeeBee catches are getting smaller and smaller.. The earlier caught ones are now getting smarter by the day, with so much attention garnered.. Which led to the million dollar question. Are the bigger Tomans, smarter and wiser? Of course lah, even I landed my lure right atop their bony head, they also bo chup.. Hur hur... Which means.. Time to target the smaller Tomans or whichever haven't open their itchy mouth.

Caught this hungry fella while I'm trying to catch Green Chromides.. Only memorable note, it broke my 4lb line upon landing and weirdly enough it doesn't swam too far off, just dive into some weeds nearby and the break line still close to the bank. Hur hur.. Handline fishing! Anyway, think abrasions must have cut the line loh. Okay Fishos, hopefully can land some decent size catches! Time to experiment DIY rigs! Cya~~

PS: By the way... My secret training is not this.. Hopefully netters dun catch on to this idea.. ;P

Valentine Day Fishing~~~

Went over my usual haunt this sunny day to cure my fishing itch. Already, some Fishos are prancing the area enjoying their fishing so I quickly set up my rods and join in the fun. Quickly spotted a pair of PeeBee stalking around so I casted my lure but fishy bo chap... Some more casts and they swam off spooked.. LOL But luckily yet another itchy mouth came and whack. Hur hur... Landed one PeeBee on my 4lb line.

Valentine's Day and you give me thumb to suck???

Oh well, that's about the only catch I could manage in my 2 hrs session. Recce around, could not see any Toman commotions and the only interest are the 'basketballs' really really daring, came so close to bank but when u cast lure at them they stop like at traffic light. ZZZzzz.. Met long time Fisho of the area, Bro Dan and we spotted a PeeBee buffet with smallie Toman joining in the fun. Parents must have went out for V-day celebration.. Nature really are cruel sometimes.. Anyway tried to hunt the hunters but I no luck today spooking the PeeBee in and out.. LOL Maybe next time..

Ang Moh Fishing In Singapore Long Kang ! LOL

Think I saw thefishinginHS Youtube blogger guy and his spec fren this sunny morning. Haha, his fren very cute cast his line over mine when I atop bridge popping my elusive preys. I was like 'WTF.. How come you cannot see my line meh. ZZZzzz.. Green line human eye can't see rite..' Line untangled by a nice China Fisho.. Hur hur.. Anyway, only manage to strike once but never set hook and finally lure buried under the tons of weeds... So in the end, got an egg this 2hrs session.. By the way, the orange 'basketballs' have returned...

It's always great to see young C&R Fishos around and enjoying fishing..

I haven't yet fully deploy soft plastics but they really works when slow retrieved. Great for catching lazy bottom huggers or lure evading species.. LOL Lures, u LOSE some u GAIN some. I'm lucky to find some lures again this year. Can you recognize yours? Hur hur~~~ Too bad it's mine now! ^^

Boring Morning~~~

Thought of landing my target this bright sunny morning but it's elusive again although I got a feeling it's still there waiting to be caught... ^^ Went for a short trip hunting the Toman this time but hard luck and at the end of my 2hrs session only manage to land this tiny fella.. Oh well~~~ 無魚蝦也好~~~

Feels like 100g gold bar in my hand. LOL

When All Things Fail...

Still have Chao Ji 'SUPER' Fly to save the day! That pretty sums up my day at my usual haunt today. Water conditions today is not bad and the sunny weather is going great... BUT... Hard luck catching the usual suspects and especially pissed when missed a strike on a soft take Haruan. So I went hunting the neglected Peacock Basses! Spotted some of them and asked a young fisho to try too but it really calls for patience, as none of my lures seems to be sweet candies for them, except for...

Finally landed a nice 32cm 1lb Mr 'Gok Tao' Peacock Bass which really make my mood up. LOL Cheap thrill but for a newbie like me, the take and the fight is all I cared! =P Confidence swarm in and switched back to lures and manage to strike a smallie in but I think got a poor hook set so it escaped when landing... T_T In the end switched to Chao Ji Fly and got the fishy in the bag!
